Who we are
SM Plant Sales is the trading name of SM Plant Limited, a family owned and run business that has worked in construction plant since 2000. It is led by managing director Simon Milligan. What we do
Parts shop
Our online parts shop lists 2,630 parts. The Parts by machine finder covers 224 machines: 28 Mecalac, Terex and Benford models, 66 Thwaites, 56 Volvo, 63 Wacker Neuson and 11 CompAir. The largest ranges are Mecalac dumper parts (1,270), Benford dumper parts (733) and Terex dumper parts (732), alongside 396 Volvo genuine parts, 372 Wacker Neuson parts and 207 filters.
Every part page shows the part number, the machines it fits where known, the price ex VAT and inc VAT, and stock. Order by 3pm, Monday to Friday, for next working day delivery of in-stock parts. Delivery charges and returns are set out on our delivery and returns page. If you are not sure which part you need, send the parts desk a photo of the old part, its number or your machine’s serial number.
New plant
We sell new plant, including Volvo compact excavators (EC15E, EC18E and EC60E), Mecalac site dumpers (TA3SH and TA9), Slanetrac HT1000 tracked high-tip dumpers in petrol and diesel, Wacker Neuson plate compactors, CompAir portable compressors, ProDem hydraulic breakers, Kress 60V battery garden tools and RTK robot mowers, and Fairport submersible pumps.
Used plant
Our used plant stock is small and changes often. Recent machines have included an ex-demo 2023 Mecalac 3.5MDX straight-tip dumper with 12 hours and a 2021 Volvo EC18E with 1,391 hours.
Servicing and repairs
We offer one-off repairs, maintenance checks and service agreements. Our plant servicing and repairs page explains what to send us when you book.
Brands and dealer status
In November 2018 Mecalac appointed SM Plant Sales as a dealer for its site dumpers across the Midlands, covering sales, service agreements, maintenance checks and aftersales support. The appointment followed Mecalac’s takeover of Terex’s UK operation in Coventry. The Benford site dumper range dates back to 1953; Terex bought Benford in 1999, and Mecalac took over Terex’s UK construction business in 2017. That history is why we list so many parts across the Benford, Terex and Mecalac ranges, as our guide to Benford, Terex and Mecalac dumper parts explains.
We are also a Wacker Neuson dealer, and in May 2024 we announced a partnership with Kress for battery garden tools and robot mowers. The brands we work with include Volvo, Mecalac, Husqvarna, ProDem, CompAir, Kress, Steelwrist, Slanetrac, Sullair, Wacker Neuson and Multi Sweep.
Who we work with
Our customers include plant and tool hire firms, house builders, groundworks and civil engineering contractors, landscapers and utilities. In 2025 Will Hire of Stourbridge bought two Slanetrac 1 tonne high-tip tracked dumpers, two Mecalac TA3SH 3 tonne dumpers and a Mecalac TA1 from us. In 2024 Carvers Hire Centre of Wolverhampton bought a Volvo EC27D with a hydraulic hitch and Harford buckets.
