Who makes ProDem hammers?

ProDem says it was established in 2003 and has become one of Europe’s most respected suppliers of hydraulic attachments. The brand belongs to PRODEM Global Ltd, based near Pulborough in West Sussex, and BPH Attachments Ltd, at the same address, is ProDem’s sole importer for the UK and Ireland. ProDem makes quick hitches, hammers, pulverisers and crushers, shears and grabs for excavators and material handlers from 0.7 to 310 tonnes.

Besides the PRB hammers, ProDem’s range includes selector and clamshell grabs, multi processors, static and rotating pulverisers, mini crushers that rotate without a rotation circuit on the excavator, combi cutters and shears, rock wheels and cutting heads, screening buckets, pallet forks, tree shears, hydraulic compactors, patch planers and the PROTRACK attachment tracker.

Which ProDem hammer fits my excavator?

Match the hammer to the carrier’s weight, then check the excavator’s auxiliary oil flow and pressure fall within the hammer’s range. These are ProDem’s figures for the smaller hammers, from its February 2026 spec sheet; the PRB008 to PRB030 run at 100 to 130 bar:

ModelExcavatorWeightOil flowImpact
PRB0080.6 to 1.5 t80 kg12 to 30 l/min110 J
PRB0100.7 to 2.5 t121 kg15 to 25 l/min180 J
PRB0301.5 to 4.5 t149 kg25 to 35 l/min300 J
PRB0402.5 to 6 t249 kg30 to 50 l/min450 J
PRB0503.5 to 8 t315 kg35 to 65 l/min700 J
PRB0605 to 11 t472 kg45 to 90 l/min1,000 J
PRB1007 to 15 t555 kg60 to 110 l/min1,350 J

The range carries on to the PRB1000 for 85 to 140 tonne machines; from the PRB150 up, the hammers add ProDem’s two-speed control. ProDem rates its impact energy to the AEM tool energy rating procedure. The PRB008, PRB010 and PRB030 are single-speed hammers, silenced and with a cushion damper for noise-sensitive sites.

How do I read a ProDem model number?

ProDem explains its codes in its operation manual. In a code such as PRB150-BA, B is the product group (breaker) and 150 the carrier class, about 15 tonnes. The letters after the dash describe the bracket: BA is an adapter-mounted silenced bracket, NA an adapter-mounted side-plate bracket, NL a backhoe loader bracket and SLA a skid steer bracket. The serial number on the nameplate, such as 15-H001, gives the model number, a factory code and the serial number; ProDem says the serial number is the only proper way to identify parts for a hammer.

Looking after a ProDem hammer

These intervals are from ProDem’s operation and maintenance manual for the PRB008 to PRB700:

  • Every 2 hours: grease the chisel and chisel bush with a moly-based grease, 5 to 10 strokes of a large grease gun on the PRB008 to PRB150. Grease with the hammer standing upright on its chisel, pressed down so the chisel is pushed fully in; otherwise grease can get into the impact chamber.
  • Every 10 hours or daily: take out the retaining pin and chisel, check them, and grind off any burrs.
  • Every 50 hours or weekly: check the back-head gas pressure (8 to 10 bar of pure nitrogen on the PRB008 to PRB030), the wear on the chisel, front bush and chisel bush, the hoses and the through bolts.
  • Every 100 hours or monthly: check all hydraulic hoses and pipe connections, and that the hoses do not foul the excavator.
  • Every 600 hours: a dealer service, including changing all the seals and the accumulator diaphragm and checking the through bolts for cracks.

ProDem warns that a chisel short of grease runs hot, wears early and can crack, and that skipping greasing shortens the life of the chisel and both bushes.

ProDem wear limits and through bolt torques

PRB00842 mm40 mm44 mm280 to 300 Nm
PRB01045 mm43 mm47 mm400 to 450 Nm
PRB03050 mm47 mm52 mm450 to 500 Nm

Replace the chisel when its diameter wears below the minimum, and both bushes when their bore goes over the maximum. The through bolt nuts take a 22 mm, 30 mm and 36 mm spanner respectively. On these three, the chisel pin starts at 25 mm and should be replaced at 23 mm. ProDem says to replace both bushes when either passes its limit, to check the through bolts daily for the first 50 hours and weekly after that, and never to take the power cell apart yourself.

Which ProDem parts do you stock?

We list ProDem wear parts under ProDem’s own part numbers, which match its parts manuals: the B013-5005 chisel pin for the PRB010, the S5741410 front-head spring pin used on the PRB008 and PRB010, and the B030-0604 through bolt kit for the PRB030.

For other ProDem parts, send the model and serial number from the nameplate to the parts desk.

ProDem warranty

ProDem’s hydraulic attachments come with a 12 month warranty as standard, and ProDem hammers can have it extended to 36 months if the hammer is serviced every 12 months, through BPH Attachments. Wear items such as the chisel, bushes and pins have shorter cover, and ProDem halves the warranty period for hammers worked on multiple shifts.
