Who makes CompAir compressors?

CompAir’s story starts with two British companies. BroomWade was founded in 1898 by Harry Skeet Broom and Jethro Thomas Wade, in a shed in High Wycombe. In 1968 it merged with Holman Bros of Cornwall, and four years later the group took the name CompAir, which it bought for £50 from the BroomWade apprentices, whose magazine it was. By 1975 CompAir was the largest maker of air compressors and pneumatic equipment in the UK.

Gardner Denver bought CompAir in 2008, and in 2020 Gardner Denver merged with Ingersoll Rand’s industrial business to form Ingersoll Rand Inc., which owns CompAir today. CompAir designs and manufactures its compressor airends in its own facility in Germany. In the UK, CompAir’s office is Ingersoll Rand in Redditch.

Figures are CompAir’s, from its 2023 data sheets. The C14 can be wheeled by hand through a doorway and carried on a van, estate car or pickup, and CompAir lists it for repair and installation work, pick hammers and breakers, earth rockets, mobile tyre repairs and blowing fibre-optic cable. The C50 suits breakers, drills, earth rockets, spraying and blasting; it has a diesel particulate filter for Stage V, and CompAir aims the range at urban work and hire fleets, with low exhaust and noise emissions.

The engine kits hold the oil and fuel filters (and air filter and spark plugs on the C14); the airend kits hold the compressor air filter, oil filter and air/oil separator. The DLT number is CompAir’s series code, used in its brochures and parts lists, so quote it with the model when you order. These are the CompAir service kits we list:
